Turn-key new distribution center
Hercuton has realized the new headquarters of De Eekhoorn Dutch Furniture. The building with a height of no less than 16,5 meters is located in the new industrial area Zevenhuis in Hoorn.
Strong growth
De Eekhoorn Dutch Furniture produces and delivers sturdy, contemporary (kit) furniture. These products are 95% available from stock and are sold in 25 countries through more than 1.500 online and offline outlets. Due to strong growth, the family business has decided to accommodate the previously fragmented business operations of office, showroom and warehouse in one modern and large building. A deliberate choice was made for a prime location on the Zevenhuis industrial estate in Hoorn.
Three floors
The new distribution center with Experience Center and office facilities has a total surface area of approximately 18,000 m². The enormous height of the building is striking. Divided over three floors, the building contains respectively storage & shipping, experience & product development and office space. The distribution center consists of four compartments which are each fire resistant for 240 minutes.
Specialism
Over the years Hercuton has proven to be a reliable and specialist party for projects of this magnitude. We were closely involved in the project from the start and looked in detail at the logistics flows and the number of pallet spaces. The hybrid building is built from a partly concrete and partly steel construction with sandwich panels and is surrounded by a five-meter high concrete plinth. There are nine docks.

The design is by Breg Ontwerp en Advies from Enkhuizen. Bouw Contracters West is providing the construction supervision.

De Eekhoorn Dutch Furniture produces (kit) furniture and supplies a large collection of interior products under the brands WOOOD, BePureHome and vtwonen. In its products solid wood materials such as pine and oak are mainly used. The products are manufactured in series with care and are easy to assemble at home.
